What’s going on at Vite? Double Your Value With 2x Lucky Boxes!
Tim here. I mean, I guess I don’t really need to say that lately-- I’m just the one writing all the emails now(and on the socials).
A tl;dr for anyone who doesn’t like to read as much:
- Tariffs even higher(145%, original number calculated at 54%)
- Non-ramen, pre-ordered items delayed
- Streams enabled
- New Lucky Box of existing merch that at least DOUBLES your purchase value!
Anyway, a bit of an update on... well, I guess, everything.
So, the thing is, the tariff situation has gotten actually way worse. Which is... y’know. Not fantastic. The original number we calculated was at 54%, so when we saw it raise to 104%, then 125%, and now sitting at 145%...
I mean, really, they may as well just put it at 238,492,374% at this point, ain’t no one got the margins to pay that.
That also means that we’re caught in between a rock and a hard place as well. We’re confident that the tariffs won’t stay this way, and that things will go down sometime, but to what extent, and how long is a whole other issue.
Right now, things we still need, like sichuan peppercorn oil, packaging, and things like that we’re still getting, even at the 145% rate. The absolutely crazy thing here is swapping over to an American version of things like our packaging would STILL COST 5X MORE than the 145% tariffs, so we don’t really have much of a choice at the moment.
Also, perhaps unsurprisingly, sichuan peppercorns are grown in... well. Y’know. Sichuan. Which is in China. So.
Similarly, things like the miso from Japan, and other ingredients we source from their respective origins also get increases, though not as much as China, but the future is still shaky.
Right now, that’s what all of the generous donations have been going towards, and we’re extremely grateful to everyone who’s helped.
As of now, we’re exploring other options and what can be done so that we can get all the pre-ordered items in, but for now, there will likely be a delay on all dates for pre-ordered merchandise, non-ramen items.

Feel free to follow me there-- I’m committing to doing streams at least every Thursday, as on top of the digital cookbook, there’s going to be some custom recipes people have donated for that I need to do on stream!

And last, but not least, we’re releasing the second part of our donation drive, though it’s also kind of a sale/spring cleaning?

Anyway, whew. That’s quite a bit on updates for the time being. We actually have a lot more we had planned and want to release, but as of the moment, they’re delayed because... well.
That being said... I’ll drop a number here that might excite a lot of you who have been around for a while.
